Man, the Internet sucks nowadays...

Well well. Guess You will be hearing from me just a bit more hahahah.

I guess I really did want to say that I'm very sad with the path that humanity is headed. This was supposed to be the age of information, yet society seems to be turning more and more ignorant.

ChatGPT and AI are making everything so much worse. Students, and people n general, are relying so much on robots that they're no longer learning basic skills. Misinformation is easier than ever to spread through shitty AI pics. And everyone's just kinda fine with that. They're being told by corporations to be fine with it.

The age of tolerance, too, yet social media is governed by vitriol. Just the other day I saw a tweet making fun of the death of one person's mother; it had amassed 100k+ likes. Just... where the fuck are we headed? Why have we come to this? How are we devolving into these heartless, rampaging monsters?

To quote Hayao Miyazaki "I fear we are nearing to the end of times. We humans are losing faith in ourselves." And if that's so, then so be it. In these times of turmoil and uncertainty it's more important than ever to keep the things that matter close to us. And it's why I'll be forever grateful that places such as Newgrounds still exist; one of the very last bastions of passion, creativity and community. There will never be a site like this one again, ever. And it fills me with hope that there's still a place in this rotten digital world where I can actually feel happy, and discover wonderful things and people much like I did when I was young.

So, thanks for being here. And thanks for reading up till this point, for anyone that did. That's all, back to work! Hope to at least be able to work on something for a certain collab I'll be part of soon.

damn... all of that being caused from callousness and money. What shame.

I feel the same buddy, ever since Covid-19, the world that we knew is gone and people have full of hate and toxicity, whether it's friendship, family or relationship, and now with This Ai trash that is spreading like parasites into everyone's lives and is so sad and worrying. I'm not gonn be all doom and gloom, I'm grateful that we have a website that allows creativity and passion. But unfortunately like all good things, it's slowly gonna end soon. So enjoy things you like. Have a wonderful day pal!

@DrCynical Social media, politics (social movements) and Covid-19 is the cause for all the madness and cruelty in this world. Money is great for necessary things, like giving charity, buy food and clothes Ect. But being obsessed with money leads you to nowhere in life and becoming miserable and selfish like those rich billionaire. I still do have faith in humanity but the rise of toxicity in society leads people into becoming a misanthrope. That's the reason I don't accept or tolerate any behaviour or extremists mindset (If it's politics or normalising horrible things). Have a fantastic day buddy!

To avoid going on a several posts long rant:

People were already getting lazy with information, all that information at the tip of your finger, sure, but you need to look for it, figure what's real from what's not, what needs to be taken with a grain of salt, ect... , but now some popular person, or even Google (how convenient!), just tell you what you should think, and they have people defending them too, it's much easier to digest than having to think for yourself.

Tolerance was never gonna happen the way it was being spread, it was being enforced (and enforced by corporations too, that's a massive red flag), you can't force people to like each others, that's not how people work, they'll just hate each others in secret until something bad enough happen and it explodes openly.
And incidentally, covid came and this is exactly what happened, people got restless and angry, and it got out of hand and we're still in the fallout of it, people are being dicks as an outlet for now, hopefully it'll settle down over time, although newcomers to the internet are being taught that way of acting so, yeah, maybe I'm just being hopeful.

The internet have been severely damaged by social medias and corporate meddling, everyone got angrily serious, information is constantly being filtered, the line between our online persona and our real identity is getting muddier and muddier, and everything is becoming more restrictive by the day in the name of safety, it's becoming a nightmare.
It's hard to know what's gonna happen with the internet at this point, doesn't seem like many people even notices how bad it's getting anymore, they just accept it hoping it'll get better some day.

As for AI, the problem is that nobody was ready for it, so there was no restrictions put in place (and in fact legally in many countries it's still a huge mess several years later) for something that can spew thousands of "content" in matter of minutes, and as a result, it caused absurd amount of damage to the internet: art sites that didn't filter or forbid it are now a complete mess, social medias are flooded with fake content, stores are filled with scams, etc...
Comically it was basically the covid for the internet, terrible response time and inappropriate handling of something that could spread everywhere and, well, it spreads everywhere.

I miss the old internet sometimes.
