2 Game Reviews

I'm not a fan of giving low ratings, even moreso here because there was clearly some interesting experimentation at work here. Having a mouse be controlled exclusively by a mouse is a neat little idea, and I'm definitely not against the existence of a platformer/point-&-click hybrid.

But the controls just feel really, really bad. You're required to do some tight jumps at times, yet the character is extremely slippery and has a very odd way of accelerating, which makes platforming REALLY awkward. It does feel great when the mouse is at max speed! but such controls really don't accommodate for a game where you have to be constantly stopping and jumping, and where it is PARAMOUNT that you have precision on your side

Most of my playtime, I have to say, was spent trying to find a goal. Only after exhausting all my options did I think of backtracking, because the game never tells you that's how you beat the level. It doesn't help that the level design is extremely confusing; there's many dead ends that should've either led you to new areas or connected back to the main path (which, granted, one of them does; that hidden downwards pitfall above the spiked walls was pretty cool).

You can also barely see what's ahead of you, and many bottomless pits feel like entrances because they have a walled background. The mouse traps kill you but also propel you, and there's trails of cheese that follow the trajectory in which the traps launch you... it feels very odd to have a platforming gimmick also be an instakill.

It's both little details and very glaring oversights that cumulatively makes this game not very fun to play through. There are, again, interesting ideas at play, but for them to work would need a rework from the ground up in either controls or game design, maybe both.

I really do hope I wasn't too harsh on this, as my intention is solely to provide feedback. Game dev is hard and, again, I DO see merit in trying out something different with this. It was overall a cute, rough, but ultimately rather inoffensive little minigame.

But I will admit that goddamn mouse is hot, and if there's ever a sequel I hope she is 5x bouncier. I WILL die on this hill.
P.S. The title screen was really quite cute! Forgot to mention that.

Pretty cute! A short and sweet little game. There were quite a few bugs with the rocks, however - whenever they landed upside down, they'd blast off whenever I tried to pick them back up.
Overall, I really liked this. It might've perhaps been a little short, but for me, it was just the right length to start my morning before working!
